The Best and worst of the Festivals
This will show you what Balco thought was the best and worst of all the festivals.
Ok the big question everyone asks me is what were the toilets like at the festival ?
Well I was really impressed with the ones at Glastonbury, out of all the festivals they are going down as the best of the bunch. The reasons for this is because they have the old kind of toilets which are basic, but are 100% better than the portaloo's at all of the other sites. They hardly smell at all and that is because they are open to the air, E.g. there was no roof on the top.
My choice for worst toilets would have to go to Leeds, well they seemed to hardly clean the ones on the campsite and the ones in the arena were not that much better. However we did find one block of toilets that were ok but a long way short of Glastonbury standard.
Now for the Campsite.
Well the award for best campsite
would have to go to Glastonbury again I'm afraid, ok the V campsite came
pretty close but Glastonbury just beat it to it because of the atmosphere in the
campsite. Which included camp fires all around with guitars being played and
people singing. And the of cause the easy access to running water was great at
Glastonbury. Glastonbury was probably the only festival where I went to the
water taps every night and washed my teeth properly, Sorry but that is very
important to me. The campsite was also so much cleaner than any of the others
and there seemed to be a lot of security patrols driving about the site all the
time.
Right once again I am sorry to say that the Leeds campsite was the worst. It was really dirty with empty cans, noodles and rubbish just lying about everywhere. You did not feel safe at all at the campsite due to lack of stewards and security. I don't think I saw any fire equipment and the drinking water was a joke. The tents had to go so close together, because there was hardly any space and even then you would come back to your tent and a tent would have gone up even closer to your tent than you would have thought possible.
The shops, food and activities in the festival village.
Well it is easy to say which of the
festivals was best for this because Glastonbury is not just a
music festival it is a contemporary arts festival according the tickets. The
Village had activities that went on pretty much right through the night if you
really wanted to stay up all night. There were lots of shops and stalls from
army surplus stores (I got my blanket from one of these) to stalls which were
just like your local newsagents at the end of your road. Ok the food at most of
the festivals is pretty much the same I suppose this have some different kinds
of food. There was one restaurant where formal dress was required but you could
rent tuxedo's if you wanted to eat there. There was also a Stall that sold sold
either alcoholic fruit cocktails or just plain fruit ones and they were really
lovely, it was a shame they were not at the other festivals.
And there cant really be a worst one in this category because all the other sites all had plenty of food stalls and shops, it is just that Glastonbury had more of them and more variety and there was so much more to do apart from the music.
The Weather.
Right its an easy choice for the worst
weather of the festivals, this would have to go to the Leeds festival. Ok
it may not have rained the whole time but it only takes a bit of rain at a
location like this to make the area get so muddy your feet get stuck in the mud.
In most of the arena the ground was ok but once you left the arena, that is when
you realised how much rain there had actually been and you knew you were
going to get muddy before you got back to your tent.
I don't think I will be able to say which had the best weather because at all the other festivals the sun shone brightly most of the time. They all did have the occasional outbreak of rain but it was no way near enough to make it the worst, unlike Leeds. At the other three festivals I had to put sun screen lotion on every day to protect me from the dangers of the sun.
